For the overall safety of your vehicle proper tire care is important. But how do you know if your tires are finished or still have a little road left? And how can you tell without having to bring your down to the dealership?

Adequate tread depth is important for many reasons. These are the most important reasons why:

  • Maintaining grip on the road under various conditions
  • Preventing your car from losing traction on icy and wet roads
  • Adequate tire thread is important in channeling water out from below when the road is to prevent hydroplaning

The tire tread is measured by

  • Tire wear bar indicators- they are built-in tread wear indicators if a tire is worn to 2/32” it can be dangerous and require an immediate replacement
  • Use a penny- turn the Lincoln upside down and insert his head first into the grooves of your tire, if the top of his head is visible replace the tires
  • Insert the depth gauge into the tread and measure the exact tire tread depth

If you are unsure of whether you need new tires or not stop by the dealership and our service team can take a look. And if you do need new tires we can help your find the right tires for your vehicle and style of driving.
