Not a good experience.

Not a good experience. Additional hidden charges of $850, which they didn't tell until I figured it out going back home. I had to do multiple follow-ups to let me know why there is a cost difference. Also, they didn't honor $300 coupon as it shows on their website for any new car. Market adjustment don't make sense as car was already in the stock. I went there in the afternoon and was the last person walked out with car from the dealership. It took them to 7 hours to do paper work.

I found the car we were looking for on thier website. Called to verify it was there before we took the drive. when my wife and I arrived Andy was there to greet us with a friendly smile, a great sense of humor, and was extremely knowledgeable. The car was exactly as it was on the website, showroom clean,and ready to go. No pressure sales, exactly the way my wife and I like to shop. When we made our decision, and team as Route 23 Honda expedited the process. Andy was there to guide us through the required paperwork, and Naldo was very efficient with her responsibilities, and had a response for all our questions.

Carlsen Boncoeur is better off selling cars to DOGS with the way he barks like one. My wife and I wanted to come and purchase a certified pre-owned car listed on the internet at $26,365. As soon as we began speaking to this sorry excuse for a human, the verbal diarrhea came out. He looked at us with eyes wide open and gave short-winded responses like “huh?” and “wha” like a 12 year old. All we wanted was to negotiate the price and give our offer. What’s hilarious is that he had a sign on the car that said the “internet price” was around $28,000. He said we got “lucky” and only because we saw the price on the internet would we be eligible for such a price. So the owner can conveniently price it down by another $2,000 but it’s a crime to negotiate the ORIGINAL price WE SAW the car for on the internet by another $2,000?? The LEAST we expected was decent customer service. It is not an exaggeration, this man started BARKING like a dog as soon as we began speaking. He has attitude and bad communication skills that are not befitting of a salesman. If Honda is smart, they’ll fire this clown.

We all know what kind of people work at car dealerships, and Route 23 Honda is no different. My wife found a preowned car online and entered her information showing interest in it. The next morning, for some reason they called my phone to follow up, since we have bought several cars from them over the years, I assume they looked up our name and called the number on file. I said yes we were interested and I would have my wife call back. That evening she made an appointment for a test drive the next day at 3 and the dealer sent a price offer that said it was good for a week. The next morning, again, they called my phone to confirm. I said yes we were coming to test drive. My wife showed up and there was only one other customer shopping around the floor. The salesman told my wife his name was Luis and gave her the keys to take a test drive. While she was on the test drive, they called her in the car and she said she was on the way back. When she got back a technician, not the salesman met her at the curb and said sorry, the car was sold while she was test driving it. She was surprised and the man said he would get the sales manager and wait out side. She waited and no one showed up so she left. I called the dealership to ask why they confirmed with us, made an offer, and let us take the car. I asked for Luis and got put on hold, 5 minutes later the operator comes on and says Luis is off today, so I gave my name and they looked up the appointment and it was with someone named Junior, so the salesmen lie and use each other's names to deceive customers and avoid taking responsibility. He never picked up, so I hung up and called back and asked for the Sales Manager, the operator asked me a million questions before I finally insisted she put me through, the manager lied to me multiple times and was very rude and refused to even acknowledge the facts of what was happening in front of him. He said the other customer was there first and we should have come yesterday... meanwhile, we had the appointment, the online offer, and the test drive and they knew we were repeat customers and the customer had not shown interest in this vehicle previously or taken it for a ride. Who sends a car out on a test drive while selling it to someone else? After spending close to 100K there, they lost a customer with a pocket full of cash. Lying and cheating come back to haunt businesses.

I leased a car on Saturday with a beautiful trade in. We went over numbers and took a few cars for a test drive. We settled on fair payment and signed all the papers. I was to return on Monday because the car was dirty and service was too busy. I left with the window ticket to obtain my new insurance. I returned on Monday with my new insurance and a cleaned out trade in. I waited 45 mins for them to wrap things up and they took my keys and the license plates from my trade in. I was told by Greg he couldn’t approve me because there’s a problem with my credit due to my ex husband irresponsibility. I was totally lied and mislead into this sale. If you can avoid this place it will be the greatest decision you EVER make! This place is an absolute joke. I purchased my used "HONDA CERTIFIED Vehicle" a Honda Pilot and within a few months of purchase I was already having problems with the motor. I would like to add that I am paying about $30,000 for a vehicle that is giving me more problems than I have ever had with a car. Long story short they had to replace the torque converter (transmission related issue) which was about a $3,000 job luckily for me it was included in the warranty however they had to squeeze money out of me somehow so they made me pay for a wheel alignment. Silly me made the mistake of not only buying this car from this dealership but also giving them another dime out my pocket. The vehicle didn't need the alignment prior to them working on the vehicle for something that was not even my fault and they needed to put the car back together ANYWAY so it didn't make sense why I had to pay however I just wanted to be done with it so I paid about $130 for the alignment and left. Within the next 2 days the car was jumping and having issues starting up. I brought the car back and left it for them to work on early in the morning.  They call me around noon, tell me it's ready so I have my mom take me on her lunch break to pick up the car and thankfully I was smart enough to ask if they completed all the items that was supposed to be included in the service they were charging me for and to my surprise they didn't complete the job. I had to call my mother back to pick me up  and tell her the car was not ready and I needed to leave to get back to work so they could finish the job. After work, I called the dealership to see if they could send the shuttle to pick me up and they said they can send someone in two days. Well I needed my car so I paid $20.99 for an UBER to take me for what will now be the 3rd time in that single day back to the dealership to pick up my truck. This was now my 3rd trip that day and now they were charging me double the price for something that was still not even completed when I asked again. After I refused to pay double for something they did not even complete they came back with this-  It's  Complimentary! THEY KNEW THEY MESSED UP!  I waited for the paperwork to say that I owed them $0 and left.  Shortly after I was still having the same problems on and off. I emailed and copied everyone in management to see if I could get a resolution to this ongoing issue and they advised me to bring in the car on a specific date January 3, 2022. The day the Service Manager set for me to come in so we can do a test run he decided not to come in to work that day and he was the one who told me to bring it in on this day. I definitely understand that things happen, however there was no Manager that could speak to me to address my issue when I was there. Not to mention I wasted my time and gas driving over there AGAIN when they told me to go in on this day only to have no one able to address the situation. Who does business like this ?? The Service Manager was not going to be back in until Thursday so I had to wait until then to speak to him. More than a week has passed since then and they made me waste my time and money bringing in my car and not one person has followed up yet January 11, 2022. Who has this kind of time to be wasting ? Especially when I have children at home and I am still having the issue with the car starting on an off.   If you made it to the end of this review do yourself a favor and go somewhere else because I have had a way better experience buying my last Honda Pilot off someone off Craigslist than ROUTE 23 Honda in Pompton Plains. I work remotely and I don't even drive much but I would feel a lot better about paying all this money for a car that actually turns on when I hit the start button. I tried to leave to see what else was out there -- but why did I do that!? All the Honda's I have owed have been super solid. A solid car starts with a solid beginning. Leasing my fourth car, I was introduced to Chad Sanders from Linda Sung. Linda kept in touch with me during the Summer and answered all the questions I had. When it was go time, Chad was funny, polite, and made the leasing experience less painful than it should've been. He listened to all my needs and requests and met each of them. I went to this dealership earlier this week because they had a good selection of CRV Hybrids at this time during all kind of shortage and supply chain issues. The salesman 'Yaik' started the conversation by announcing that CRV hybrids are $2000 over MSRP (even before showing me the car or giving a test drive). By the time I took a test drive and expressed that I am interested in the vehicle that number had ballooned to $5000 over MSRP! His manager 'Juan Mosquera' came and started giving me a lecture on demand-supply!! These guys do not even understand the concepts of demand-supply while lecturing the customers on it! All they want is to rip you off and they are unethical in doing business! It was not the case where they had only one CRV hybrid and there were 10 customers trying to buy the same car at the same time. They had 9 CRV hybrids on the lot and I was the only customer trying to buy one so why should I pay $5000 over MSRP? Yaik also had the audacity to tell me that I wasted his time! Infact, I wasted my 1 hour to drive to this dealership after work ! These guys are unethical and they do not know how to treat a genuine customer so don't waste your time because they don't deserve your business!!

If you can avoid this place it will be the greatest decision you EVER make! This place is an absolute joke. I purchased my used "HONDA CERTIFIED Vehicle" a Honda Pilot and within a few months of purchase I was already having problems with the motor. I would like to add that I am paying about $30,000 for a vehicle that is giving me more problems than I have ever had with a car. Long story short they had to replace the torque converter (transmission related issue) which was about a $3,000 job luckily for me it was included in the warranty however they had to squeeze money out of me somehow so they made me pay for a wheel alignment. Silly me made the mistake of not only buying this car from this dealership but also giving them another dime out my pocket. The vehicle didn't need the alignment prior to them working on the vehicle for something that was not even my fault and they needed to put the car back together ANYWAY so it didn't make sense why I had to pay however I just wanted to be done with it so I paid about $130 for the alignment and left. Within the next 2 days the car was jumping and having issues starting up. I brought the car back and left it for them to work on early in the morning.  They call me around noon, tell me it's ready so I have my mom take me on her lunch break to pick up the car and thankfully I was smart enough to ask if they completed all the items that was supposed to be included in the service they were charging me for and to my surprise they didn't complete the job. I had to call my mother back to pick me up  and tell her the car was not ready and I needed to leave to get back to work so they could finish the job. After work, I called the dealership to see if they could send the shuttle to pick me up and they said they can send someone in two days. Well I needed my car so I paid $20.99 for an UBER to take me for what will now be the 3rd time in that single day back to the dealership to pick up my truck. This was now my 3rd trip that day and now they were charging me double the price for something that was still not even completed when I asked again. After I refused to pay double for something they did not even complete they came back with this-  It's  Complimentary! THEY KNEW THEY MESSED UP!  I waited for the paperwork to say that I owed them $0 and left.  Shortly after I was still having the same problems on and off. I emailed and copied everyone in management to see if I could get a resolution to this ongoing issue and they advised me to bring in the car on a specific date January 3, 2022. The day the Service Manager set for me to come in so we can do a test run he decided not to come in to work that day and he was the one who told me to bring it in on this day. I definitely understand that things happen, however there was no Manager that could speak to me to address my issue when I was there. Not to mention I wasted my time and gas driving over there AGAIN when they told me to go in on this day only to have no one able to address the situation. Who does business like this ?? The Service Manager was not going to be back in until Thursday so I had to wait until then to speak to him. More than a week has passed since then and they made me waste my time and money bringing in my car and not one person has followed up yet January 11, 2022. Who has this kind of time to be wasting ? Especially when I have children at home and I am still having the issue with the car starting on an off.   If you made it to the end of this review do yourself a favor and go somewhere else because I have had a way better experience buying my last Honda Pilot off someone off Craigslist than ROUTE 23 Honda in Pompton Plains. I work remotely and I don't even drive much but I would feel a lot better about paying all this money for a car that actually turns on when I hit the start button. Patricknj973, you were sooo not wrong. I too brought my car in for a recall and decided to have my car detailed while it was there. The service was excellent. I was so happy with the detailing results, I called later that week to get my other Honda detailed. I was told that after my service earlier that week, a $19.95 charge for a loaner car was instituted. I agreed to the charge and scheduled the service. Both of my appointments were scheduled for Fridays. I assumed I would be picking up my car on Saturday morning, since the earlier service call was completed on a Saturday. Shortly after returning home, I got a call telling me that my car would not be detailed until Monday. I was astounded that having known about this appointment for weeks they didn’t reschedule my appointment. I inquired about the loaner car charge and they informed me that they had every intention of charging me for each of the days they were in possession of the car. After hearing my response, they agreed on a single charge of $19.95 for the day they serviced the car. As with the last service call, the detailing was excellent. When I paid the bill, I saw the notation for charging the bill for the loaner car. The actual bill did not contain an additional charge. After all of this they should have charged the bill for the $19.95. They lost a customer solely on Customer Service. 18 years and 5 cars later. Shame on the Honda Corporation for allowing this dealership to represent your brand.

I wasn't going to write a review but I felt it may be a good idea so other people know what can happen to them or worse. In summary, all four tires were inflated to 30psi, the front two should have been 32-33psi, I paid to have both filters replaced, I was charged but they weren't replaced. The fuel pump had a recall and they replaced the wrong part. Luckily that error was caught before I left. Something is not right with rt 23 service. Are they starved for money that they charge without doing the work, are they hiring incompetent people, am I an exception or is this going on as a general practice. I don't know but I would seriously think twice about bringing my car into their service department

I had the honor of working with Junior and I am so glad I did. I just told him exactly what I was looking for and he was right on it. I am so in Love with my Nissan Sentra. It is perfect. He was so professional and for the first time buying a car was not a frustrating experience. Took a test drive put down a deposit and within a few days I was in my new car. Junior is by far the best car salesman who I've come across. He broke down all the numbers went over every detail and got me to the exact amount I wanted to pay. We dropped off our Honda Accord on a Monday to diagnose a check engine light (CEL) that's been on due to the car running too rich (too much fuel/not enough air). The car needed to pass inspection, so it was crucial for us to get the issue diagnosed and then repaired right away. For background, I own a copy of my car's Honda Service Manual and have already replaced the most common parts that may cause that CEL (MAF sensor, O2 Sensors, dirty air filter, fuel injectors, etc). I had a good amount of experience with the issue beforehand, but figured taking it to a "professional" dealership with good reviews was the best option at this point. I was wrong. This review is pretty long so bear with me. Our service advisor was Connor and our tech was Justin. On Tuesday, Connor calls us and says that the "master air flow sensor" needed to be replaced. That part doesn't exist, so I asked if he meant the "mass air flow sensor" instead? I politely explained to him that we already replaced the MAF sensor TWO times (with Honda parts) and that the tech was wrong. The lazy tech probably only recommended that because replacing that sensor takes a total 2 minutes of work. Connor explained that when they swapped in a new sensor, the car wasn't running rich and was back to normal. That sounded like complete lies, so I asked to have a before and after readout of the fuel trim as proof (that only takes a few minutes to do). I also asked for them to explain exactly what was diagnosed that led to that conclusion. After calling me back, Connor provided neither and instead said he would warranty the sensor for free (after I provided the receipt). I explained to him that replacing the sensor wouldn't fix the issue, but I figured that was fair of him and I might be wrong. We left the car another day and the sensor was ordered to arrive tomorrow. On Wednesday, the sensor was installed and we were told "the car feels fine" after a road test. Since I didn't get that before and after readout, I suspected the light would come back on. Another advisor I spoke to said that I was being "too technical", even though this is pretty basic stuff that a Google search could explain. We pick up the car, pay the $144 (sales tax + an extra $5 in fees), and walk away. When I looked at the service report, it says that they were diagnosing a "lean" condition when the car had a "rich" condition. Although that may not seem like a big deal, those are two completely different issues - it just goes to show how clueless the advisors are. According to Connor, that's what his "manager" wrote. But whatever, I figured the problem was solved and that was that. Literally 2 minutes later while driving, the light comes back on. At this point, I was considering just walking away and never going back to them again, but I paid money for this. I drove back and dropped off the car again. On Thursday, Connor reached out and told me that further diagnosis was being done with a more experienced tech working on the car. Connor apologizes and says that a more experienced tech should've been working on the car from the start. By now, I asked multiple times for a list of what exactly was diagnosed on the car. For four days straight, they still couldn't provide that and couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car. They wanted another day with the car to further troubleshoot, but I wanted them as far away from the car as possible at this point. I had no faith in them and I didn't want to risk any damage to the car. After some resistance on Connor's part, I get understandably angry and tell him that I'm picking up the car that night and that wasn't up for negotiation. This is where I was truly blown away by this service department: Connor calls me back and says that the tech BROKE two vacuum hoses in the car, which explains why they were hesitant to return the car that day. I bet the only reason I was even told that was because I was going to pick up the car that night, if I left it another day he wouldn't have said anything and it would've slipped right under the radar. On Friday, they replace the hoses and do no further diagnosis. Connor's excuse was that since I wanted the car back, they couldn't diagnose it further, even though I wasn't picking up the car until after 7 PM. He also said that the light was an "intermittent issue", which made it harder to diagnose. The light has been consistently on for over a year, and if it ever turned off, it would turn back on after a few hours. I also finally get a response for what was diagnosed: "The sensor was replaced, the fuel pressure was normal, and the other troubleshooting steps in the service manual for that check engine light were done". Are you serious? It took FIVE days for that? In total, we didn't have our car for FIVE days, we had coolant hoses broken by negligence, and paid $144 for nothing. During this entire process, I asked to speak to a manager maybe five times. The excuses/lies I got each time were: "He's in the service bay with your car", "He just stepped away", or "He's in another dealership, he owns multiple dealerships". If I was able to resolve this issue with a manager, I wouldn't have to waste my time writing this in the first place. The amount of lies and dishonesty from this place have been ridiculous. Stay far away, this service department is the worst.

Had a good experience here

My experience was very good when choosing Route 23 Honda. Although my favorite service person, Poppy, is no longer there I still find it pleasant. The only problem I had is it seems they just don't have enough help at the "busy" times - morning and evening and Saturdays. Everyone there is polite and knowledgeable but you could tell they are stressed. I like the sales dept and also the service. I have no further complaints and would continue using them.

Not a good experience. Additional hidden charges of $850, which they didn't tell until I figured it out going back home. I had to do multiple follow-ups to let me know why there is a cost difference. Also, they didn't honor $300 coupon as it shows on their website for any new car. Market adjustment don't make sense as car was already in the stock. I went there in the afternoon and was the last person walked out with car from the dealership. It took them to 7 hours to do paper work.

My buddy David Lee runs the four stores associated with this Honda dealership. I’ve bought many cars from him over the years so my loyalty took me out of state to purchase a vehicle. I am beyond glad I did when I purchased the Honda for my wife. He referred me to deal with Jose Concepcion the GSM and Juan Garcia who was my salesman. My wife is over the moon because she left in a better car than she was currently driving at a price lower than she was paying. They bent over backwards to make her happy and I’m beyond grateful. What was impressive is that the dealership closed at six and I kept getting horrible insurance salesman on the phone through my company and we did not finalize the deal till 8 PM. Never once did any of the sales staff make us feel bad for keeping them two hours past their work time and we couldn’t be any more grateful. A++++.

My husband found a used truck there that he liked- as he had been looking for one for weeks he got immediate notification from 3rd party sites when his criteria was matched so he called to verify the price pretty immediately, and we confirmed by phone, text and email that the price was correct and told multiple times that it was. So we asked if we could put a down payment to hold the truck until we got there or somehow start financing it. We were told no that they couldn’t hold it for us even with a deposit, but due to the distance we wouldn’t be able to make it there until the next week. So the next week rolls around and it is still there but the price has went up exponentially, we called emailed and texted again to confirm it was available and asked about the price increase. We were told they mislisted the price, but would honor it since they had told us a different price on multiple occasions. The day before my husband is going to head there we call to get final numbers as we had already been approved through our bank and we’re going to trade in our 22 civic as we didn’t need 3 vehicles. Our current vehicle was worth almost 10k more than what they offered through KBB and was selling used for about 14k more than what they offered everywhere online, so their intentions were obviously to get us negative on our trade to make up the money they were losing by “honoring” the original price we had been promised. So we told them no thank you on the trade in we would just haul the car back with the truck and buy it right out. We were told we’d have to be called back. About 30 minutes later they call back with a “final number” and there is an undisclosed extra 3k on there, and when asked what this was for they said it was just a price mark up. Which really aggravated me so I called them out on this stating that this was a bait and switch and not honorable business practice to which a manager ended up intervening on that conversation. They didn’t want us to bring outside financing -actually pretty much refused it- and they didn’t care about the promise/honor they made. Finally after a lot of back and forth they said they’d sell it to us for only a 1k mark up IF we financed through them. Which at that point we needed the truck and it was still an okay deal. So we did. Whatever, still aggravated but we had to have the truck as we were selling our house and moving into a fifth wheel a few weeks later. Fast forward a month later and our temp tag has expired. We called and asked for a secondary temp tag and we were told the state of NJ didn’t allow that (which was a blatant lie you can literally look it up on the NJ website as we were out of state customers and could get a 30 day extension for a small fee). We relayed this to Sam the sales person and we’re informed for a while and then told we would hear back after we talked to his manager. We tried making contact a few more times with Sam and then multiple other people at the office to either be told we would be called back and never were, or tossed around or put on hold until THEY hung up on us. So we texted Sam again offering to pay the fee ourselves just PLEASE send us another temp tag and we were again lied to and told they couldn’t. So here we are 2 months later, 2 payments in on a vehicle we can’t even drive and no one at this company has the decency to help or even call us back. It is obvious this is retaliation/back lash from the dealership for being held accountable for their original list price and they are upset they lost out on money, because neither the Georgia DMV nor the tag office had received info on the truck over 6 weeks in, even though they told us it had been mailed off. We asked for tracking on this or online confirmation to confirm this and we’re once again ignored. At this point we’re pissed enough we’re ready to take legal action as we have NEVER had this type or problem in any state we’ve bought a vehicle in. They don’t care about anything but money. They should be ashamed of themselves.
